Laudemio Fattoria di Volmiano - Gondi Family - Polyphenols Rich Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Tuscany
From Our Farm to Your Table
Nestled in a pristine valley on Monte Morello, famous since the Middle Ages for olive oil, the 550-hectare farm has 70 hectares of olive groves with 20,000+ Leccino, Moraiolo, Frantoio, and Pendolino trees, surrounded by woodlands from 250 to 1,000 meters, reaching a peak.
The story of the Gondi family and Laudemio olive oil is one of ancient trees, precious harvests, and a family’s enduring growth.
Laudemio is produced exclusively from green olives harvested in October at the optimal stage of ripeness. This early harvest ensures an oil naturally high in polyphenols and antioxidants, delivering rich flavor and scientifically proven health benefits.
Beneath the villa are two olive presses dedicated exclusively to the estate’s olives. The first is a traditional cold press with stone grinders, maintained both to honor an ancient tradition and to charm visiting guests. The second is a modern mill, used to produce Laudemio, designed to maximize freshness and preserve the olives’ health-giving properties.
Drizzle Laudemio over salads, grilled vegetables, red meat, or even a simple slice of bread to elevate every bite. Its bold freshness and rich aroma transform everyday dishes into extraordinary experiences, making healthy eating a true pleasure.
The Origins
Originally a watchtower, the Villa of Volmiano was expanded in the 15th century by the Cerretani family after their villa was destroyed by fire. The estate also includes Sorbetole, once owned by the Martelli and later acquired by the Medici, who incorporated it into the Caffaggiolo holdings. Cassandra Cerretani, the last descendant, enlarged the oratory and built a fountain that still graces the garden.
The Volmiano Complex
The Villa of Volmiano now rises around a sturdy medieval tower in a vast, unspoiled valley. Across the way stands Sorbetole, where olive oil has been produced since the Middle Ages. From the estate, one can still trace the defensive line of towers that once guarded the road between Florence and Bologna.
Volmiano Today
Today, Volmiano belongs to Vittoria Gondi Citernesi and her sons Gerardo and Lapo. Lapo continues the passion of his grandfather, Alfredo Citernesi, who devoted his life to olive growing and extra virgin olive oil. The estate is listed among the historic farms recognized as specialized olive groves by the Chamber of Commerce.
