Barilla ProteinPLUS Spaghetti

Classic long, golden strands of pasta pair well with a simple tomato or a hearty meat sauce, a chunky vegetable or a creamy carbonara sauce.

Did you know that spaghetti is the most popular shape in Italy? The word spaghetti comes from the Italian word 'spaghi', which means 'lengths of cord.'

Twirled properly on a spoon or eaten with just a fork, Barilla Spaghetti will maintain its authentic shape and hold on to just about any kind of sauce you enjoy.

1. Bring 4-6 quarts of water to a boil, add salt to taste.

2. Add pasta to boiling water. Stir gently.

3. For authentic 'al dente' pasta, boil uncovered, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes. For more tender pasta, boil for an additional minute.

4. Remove from heat and drain well.

5. Serve immediately with your favorite Barilla sauce.

Preparation:

1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

2. Heat 1 tbsp. olive oil in a saute pan; add garlic and red onion; sweat for 4 minutes.

3. Add chicken and 1 tbsp. olive oil to a separate pan and cook three-fourths of the way through.

4. Add the peppers to the onions and saute for 3 minutes.

5. Add chicken broth and continue cooking until reduced by half.

6. Cook Spaghetti according to package directions.

7. Add the chicken to the pepper and onion mixture; season the mixture with salt and pepper.

8. Remove pan from the heat and stir in the Romano cheese.

9. Toss chicken mixture with the cooked spaghetti.

Preparation:

1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute crushed red pepper and pine nuts about 2-3 minutes or until pine nuts are golden.

3. Add sauce to skillet; heat through.

4. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain pasta, reserving ½ cup of the pasta cooking water.

5. Add hot pasta to sauce; stir in reserved pasta water as needed. Add cheese; mix well.

6. Transfer to a serving platter or bowl and serve.
